Bystander Apathy

The other day my friend called me around midnight telling me that she just witnessed a couple of people beating someone up; I couldn’t believe that she was calling me instead of calling the cops, she even told me that others were passing by and they acted as though nothing was happening . This is a clear example of bystander apathy. For those not in the know it’s a psychological term used to describe the situation where people are less likely to intervene in emergency situations when there are other people around than when they are alone. What a wonderful world ..

I didn’t have it easy as a kid, I went through a lot for someone my age. I was seven at the time when I first heard the song ‘what a wonderful world’ by Louis Armstrong, despite everything I was going through I sang this song from heart, I sang it meaning every single word as though there was no tomorrow .. Every time I listen to this song, I begin to remember everything as if it were yesterday; sometimes I wonder what happened to that kid I don’t know if she exists in me anymore maybe somewhere along the way I killed her or certain events did or maybe she’s just hiding for now .. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Louis Armstrong, he’s one of the greatest Jazz musicians of all time, hope you enjoy this song ..
